Today, Twain Financial Partners announced its commitment to fund $1 billion in renewable energy projects over the next three years. Twain’s investment will provide capital to accelerate renewables development across the U.S. with key development partners.

As part of this commitment to bolstering the growth of renewable projects, Twain has hired energy finance veteran Michael Park as its Director of Renewable Energy. Park has more than 20 years of experience in financial services with 15 years focused on energy project finance, including performing due diligence on more than $9.5 billion of transactions. Park, a former investment officer with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office, previously served as Vice President of Energy & Infrastructure for Live Oak Bank.

Twain’s clean energy platform offers single-source funding – providing all capital needed – for developers with renewable energy projects. The firm provides capital to some of the industry’s most respected renewable energy developers who have experience in more than 200 projects across the U.S. Twain primarily focuses on solar projects – including community, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility scale – but has quickly begun assessing additional technologies for financing to include biofuels, biopower, hydro, wind, and stand-alone storage among others.

Matt Badler, Managing Director and Principal of Twain, sees Park playing a crucial role in supporting energy project developers as a single source of efficient and creative capital.

“Renewable energy project financing is complicated and messy,” Badler said. “Many of the project developers have difficulty juggling multiple capital sources for tax equity investment, construction debt and permanent debt.”

“Michael brings both the lender and the developer perspective – through a strong energy lending track record, and deep developer relationships – to provide essential support to ensure energy project developers have access to the most suitable financing products through a single organization.”
